I’m not one to complain about the weather but I’ll admit I’m sure ready for Spring. This Illinois winter has been a little rough. Lots of snow and lots of frigid temps have made it difficult to do anything. I’ve been trapped in my house a few too many times. I have been able to get out a few times to take some winter nature pictures. If only I had a heated suit, I could be outside a lot longer taking shots like this!

Giddy up, cowgirl! | Newborn photography

Spunky. That’s how I would describe this little baby during her session. It took me two tries (on two different days) to get the shots I wanted of her. Though it made me work a little harder, I loved her personality that was already shining through at just a few days old. I also was particularly excited to use the saddle her mom brought as a prop. It’s always fun for me to include special items that parents bring.

Cousins | Child photography

Last year my brother and sister-in-law brought home two girls from Uganda. I’ve been very lucky to photograph them many times. I thought recently that it would be great to get a shot of my nieces with my son, Jasper. Turns out it’s pretty tricky to get a good shot of three silly kids. The second picture was one of the many outtakes that just makes me laugh. Norah, the youngest, was ready to be done.
